WELCOME
Welcome to Retired Police Dogs SA!
We are a registered not-for-profit charity dedicated to supporting the welfare of retired police dogs from the South Australia Police (SAPOL). Established in 2024, we operate independently with the support of SAPOL, ensuring these loyal companions enjoy a comfortable and loving retirement. While most dogs stay with their handlers, others may be rehomed, we are here to assist with the financial burdens that can arise from their medical needs. Your support helps us provide the care these brave dogs deserve.
Food continues to be supplied by SAPOL when a dog retires to a handler, however they are excluded from being able to access policies of pet insurance based on their work as police dogs and the high rate of pre-existing injuries they have sustained by the time they retire.
Unfortunately, some retirees face significant medical expenses, and their families often struggle to bear the cost. That’s why we’re committed to providing financial assistance and support to help alleviate the burden and ensure that these loyal animals receive the best care possible.
Please note: We are not involved in the re-homing of retired police dogs
